After discussing the concept of identity and what it means to be ‘you’, we realised that in fact through processes such as automated writing the thoughts which stem from the subconscious are representing you as an individual; your identity. We rely mostly on our sight to determine our thoughts on the world, what happens if this is taken away we asked ourselves and you are only left with your imagination. Which is a powerful force when you are isolated from the world visually and physically. The concept of our progress so far is to have a wooden box built that will be placed over one audience member at a time in the performance. Darkness will engulf the studio itself and the box which will be presented as numerous spaces. The individual’s subconscious will be the performer and form the product of the actions and words that will be produced from the five of us. Following the input of our group we will capture and document their subconscious by providing them with a dictaphone to record their train of thought and experience of the performance.

As their sight will be absent in the box we aim to convey and experiment with various scenarios and locations in their mind through the remaining senses of sound, touch, taste and smell. To be able to experiment we will require some form of text…
